Ireland: Land/Air/Sea

At The New York Irish Center

Ireland: Land/Air/Sea is a contemporary art exhibition featuring Queens based art group, 7 Line Collective. Artists Cristina Ferrigno and Spencer Moore will exhibit their landscape photography taken throughout Ireland last year. Join us for the opening reception at the New York Irish Center, Thursday August 4th at 8pm. Exhibition on view through early September.

Inspired by ancient Celtic art and legend, Cristina Ferrigno focuses on small details, capturing many varied textures and patterns throughout the natural world.

When visiting the places of his ancestry, Spencer Moore reflects on the time and distance between Western Ireland and New York, where his great-grandfather immigrated from around the turn of the last century.

Both artists consider time and place while capturing ephemeral moments in the landscape. Momentary fluctuations in the sky or a breeze in the grass are juxtaposed against the inherent elements of the land itself.

Personal is Political is Personal

Congratulations to member artist Spencer Moore whose work will be featured in the upcoming show Personal is Political is Personal at 440 Gallery in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Join us for the reception Thursday July 7th at 6pm, on view through Saturday, August 6th.

In this intensely political year we hear sound bites and promises that can seem abstract unless it affects us personally. Black Lives Matter. Climate Change. Ban Muslims. It’s all just words until we see a child’s body washed ashore, a routine traffic stop becomes deadly, or a family home is destroyed at high tide. 440 Gallery’s theme show this year is centered on politics and the personal effects of politics. No issue is off limits: billionaires, gun control, abortion, LGBT rights, our food supply, clean water, animal rights, education— whatever moves us personally and politically—this is an exhibition to make a statement.
